The soul is pure but turns out to be a helpless friend that can feel but cannot understand.
The man from Nazareth placed a child in the centre and said, "Look carefully and find out what paradise looks like." Well said, because a young child is a perfect illustration indeed of the innocence of our soul. An young soul is pure. It is by growing up that we gradually cover it with layers of upset.
That is why we sometimes hear: 'Let us return to the soul!'. We want to return to the world of the inner child and pure intuition. For some this means that we have to prioritise feeling over thinking.
I remember a lady who once reprimanded me: 'We simply have to feel, and nothing more!'. She, however, went on to experience one conflict after another. Those who just feel, lack reason and reasonableness.
My point is that the path to the soul is forged by the mind! To once again compare the soul with a young child: Even though young children are innocent and pure, the task remains to protect them like a mother and to inform them like a father to prevent them from falling into the many pitfalls of the unpredictable world. Only when their own mind is sufficiently developed can they stand on their own two feet.
The soul is pure, but turns out to be a helpless friend who can feel, but cannot understand. It communicates through emotions and feelings. When our soul is upset by injustice or sadness, it is up to our mind to inform the soul that those feelings of sadness and anger are justified, but shouldn't become so overpowering as to prevent us from functioning.
The soul is our inner child which needs a mentor for reassurance in times of strong emotions. That mentor is our mind which, at best, is well informed and can therefore offer perspective.
Man is soul and spirit. So, do not neglect the soul. Listen to it and lead it by the hand. Do not neglect your mind either. Gather positive and constructive insights with which you can eventually experience soul and spirit together. If we do that we will become the balanced person we've always wanted to be.
